About Us
When are we open?
October through to the end of February. But it is good to note that, for this kind of information - and for all our season - Mother Nature dictates timing on certain events.
In Season (Mid October to end of November) = Open 7 days/week
Out of season (December - February 28th) = Open Wednesday - Sunday
What do you offer and when?
This is what most people want to know - and being a seasonal flower farm, our offerings do change. Below is a rough guide of what to expect over those 5 months.
October: We open our gates to the public as we slowly start to pick. OUR Peony season starts mid October and goes through to late November. With 22 varieties on the farm, our "peony menu" changes weekly.
Coffee, real fruit ice cream, lawn games and space for kids to run is a staple and will be available throughout our open months.
November: By November we are in full swing and the first 3 weeks of this month is your prime "experiences" window. Pick Your Owns, Farm Tours, Workshops etc. Dates for these can NOT be confirmed too far in advance.

December: December our crop starts to decrease but we bring in stems from a friends farm further south to keep you stocked with peonies until Xmas Eve. Prices are still reasonable but you will notice a difference from what we are able to offer being 'Farm to Vase' vs getting in from elsewhere.

January & February: With peonies at an end, our flower offering is based on seasonal growth with the main star being Dahlias. So these moths are for relaxing in the sun, drinking coffee or eating ice cream and letting the kids roam free.
February: 2026 is our first year hosting Giant Picnic - Christchurch.
This will be the 'sing off' for the season and a chance for us to say thank you to all the locals who support us throughout our season.
March - Early October: Our gates are closed to the public while we maintain the farm and get ready for the next season.
Who are we?
Located just outside of Christchurch in a small town called Prebbleton, you will find John, Kerry and Sacha Coogan and their beautiful Peony Farm.
In 2015, John and Kerry bought Prebbleton Peonies and have done what they do best. They turned this humble flower farm into a thriving business that has just recently started to offer to the NZ public. Predominantly an export based company, this flower was too popular to not offer an option that gave it to the people of NZ. With Covid playing a larger role that desired, the last two years have seen this option tested out and expanded on year by year.
